Jillian Brown is a Canadian 🇨🇦 photographer, adventurer, writer as well as CEO and lead-guide for a non-profit organisation called Camp My Way, offering wilderness well-being program for people affected by PTSD.
The story of Jillian is nothing short of remarkable. After 5 years of an abusive relationship, she ends up homeless and living in a tent for 7 months. At some point there is a word coming out of her counselling session: Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. Jillian will find by herself, and with the help of her dog and a mysterious squirrel, the path to healing. It is in the outdoor that she is able to reconnect with herself and meet people who will give her the feeling of being seen. Her natural determination and resilience will quickly result in her jumping in a crazy challenge: paddling down the Colorado river in a tandem sea kayak, a first!
In this great conversation, Jillian walks us through her journey, how she learned that people are capable of more than they imagine, and how she is now using that knowledge gained from experiences to help veterans, first responders or youths with PTSD to "save their own lives".
