SPEAKER_02:

Bienvenue sur Les Frappés, le podcast sur le dépassement de soi and the four. I'm Loïc Blanchard, entrepreneur, coach and preparator mental certificate. I've been sportified of niveau in judo after the tatami to contact a sport of pleasure like the triathlon and track engagement. Recently, I'm finished of the PTM, an ultra track of 340 km on the month organisation by the UTMP. After the creation of the 2020, we have two objectives. The first is to recover the university. After the Navity, we have to navigate the people. Check décollage.

SPEAKER_00:

Tout d'abord, il faut savoir que la France, c'est une rare nation in the world to have these hélicoptères dediés exclusively to forces spéciales. So it's important. Alors for being the régiment, the format actually, I think it's important to remain a bit on the history of the forces special frances. Alright, two commences at the lobe of debarquement in Normandy during the Democratic, with a type, the captain of the Corvette Philippe Kiffer, who dresses a bit from the major and proposing techniques and strategies a bit innovative. So it's a fight. The strategy that consists to align of a massive troops and they enjoy at the battery. And finally, the technique de guérilla, toujours un petit peu dans le même credo, a petit group d'hommes habitués to bosser ensemble, but with an objective particular and haute valeur ajoutée, be patient and attend the annual 90, fin of the premiere of the Gulf Persique, which respond to a demand of the president of the Republican France who had an interlocutor for their forces. In 1997, it was the detachment of the operations. And in 1998, we had a bit of PEPS at all in integrating six gazelles, which were at the world the helicopter attack of the army France.

SPEAKER_02:

When you talk about ALAT, is you can represent what it is?

SPEAKER_00:

It regards almost 90% of the large helicopters that have part of the Army. Turn on the story. And a bit told, an hélicopter d'attaque, the Tigre. Alors en 2009, le détachement à la des opérations spéciales devient le 4e régiment des hélicoptères des forces spéciales, sous un format that is in perpétuelle evolution. Alors force, I think that the 4e RHFS is intervened in all the operations military of the Army France during the 20 years. After the escadrille has its speciality. After the Poitou, it's just transport. And we work into the main. We will stay less, that's the command, with the plant carburetor. We can easily augment the election of the patrouille of helicopter.

SPEAKER_02:

The transport, it means that we have, if I did not bêtise, with Cyril Chaboon, who is an ancient TPA distance, and who explained, if I tell you, I'm attention, I'm not sure the bêtises on the suggestion, but the TPAD is the unity of forces who are charged to pose the avions. They're the people who are ability to prepar the pistes and make enough that these avions of transport unit spécifique pose in all conditions, the nuit, that's what you expect.

SPEAKER_00:

And the pilot, the eyes firm, so it's impressionant.

SPEAKER_02:

Super. La question suivante for me is comments that are arrived, toi, to devenir in a prime time, pilote d'hélicopter, and par la suite, qu'est-ce qui fait que visiblement ça accroche très fort and you t'es an environment very special for the couple?

SPEAKER_00:

Alors la chance. I was done a family military. I was done a family plenty of modest. And I was, the first time I was in an avion, I was just pilot. I was not absolutely. I was an audience, classic, the copains, the music, the fancy. I did not know in the life, like a lot of adults. I was not really proved my life, I was not really a route. And I understand that the declique for the army in a few years. He was in uniform, he had a great placard of medaille, he had a girl a little carried, bronzer, basané, the tanny. And he said a little his truth, and I was very passionate. I rent the hour. And at the time, the chars of the army france, the AMX 30, maximum 1,82 mm, was 1,85 mm, but they were involved in three years to say that at the visit medical, the people who had measured it is very great. It was not. And he said, But for me, the test of the latter is very. The back is very good. At the time there were promotions of pilots who were non-bash. And I commenced the recruitment a little bit, by a chance. And at that time I was a little at my great surprise. And I went to the military, a bit complicated. I had a long, I could have been as physical. And ensued after the military, I went to the pilots at Dax. And at the time it was very complicated. I was at my life, I was plenty of the early. And at that time that they eliminated a team, it was the time we were 25, we had terminated 18, I think. And I thought they were eliminated the first pilot, I thought I was the 24th, and at that time I said I was the first to pass the trap. And I was a bit more, and so on. A few years when they were the 24th, I was the 23th, I had a little bit of the earliest. I was a marriage of the log, I had an experience, I had not participated at these operations at the strange. And for me, it's a success. I put a talons, but I imagine that it's like for a fan who made a talons of aigues, very uncomfortable, but I was sent like a chausson. And I think that it was that I was there. So I decided to be utterly.

SPEAKER_02:

For revenue just on one point, the stage that you evolved, where at that point you arrived at not all who is eliminated, but just for part of those who have reacted all the moment.

SPEAKER_00:

But I think there are three great competences, three great domains the connection, the capacity of coordination, dissociation of attention that we have or that they have. And then there's also an attitude. It's a formation continue quickly all the time. And I think that on these three great competences, if you have two, you pass. And they have a very bad coordination, and you know they have a truth with the command, they are very good. And these types, even if they have an attitude of merde, they are in their rank. After a type who is not very bad with the commands, but he bosses like a malad, he has a connaissance of fou, and he has an attitude vis-à-vis the others, he has an experience of each, and he pardoned a little faible, there's not a bad pilots, and you have also a big pilot. And that's that's the difference. And then you're the brawler, the mechanism bosses the book because it's emmered, but he has a big truth with the command, he arrives quite as facilitated. And certainly it's a mechanic super sympathy, and this mechanism has enough to boss with him and he fell to the troops, I think.

SPEAKER_02:

Excellent. What difference of the plus self-toi en tant que pilote to lancer on operations special versus pilot classic, pilot in the arm, but pilot classic that is with the commandos and all of the things? Is there really a difference evident for you?

SPEAKER_00:

No, because the first reason is that we are two of these escaliers standards of the aviation of the armor. The difference is a good one. An attitude and an expert. We have confirmed, we have stable, we have dominant people, we have influent, we have a little bit of a. I had really the impression to count. And this is what I've done when I commenced enough pilot or when I terminated my career in chef of patrouille, air mission commander, with a briefing, or a debriefing, because there's also a lot of things, an autocritique that is very important at each entrainement and operation. But the type who is gunner on an helicopter of manœuvre, he has a grade very elevation, he has a great experience, but it's who has the pet for that situation.

SPEAKER_02:

And called good, is that you know that you've been serving?

SPEAKER_00:

I think the six operations at which I participated or exercises at the strange, it was at that time a way different. I've had the occasion at the time to have the memory season redundant where you were in the Tchad and you say that you know the base, because you've already had it, you know what chambre you are. A whole time it was different, so I was very serious at the time. In the life, in the play from my experience personal very rapidly. And I think that it's not the end where we are, it's also the people with who we are. And I had this chance to cotway these units of elite like the Premier Pays, the CPA 10, the commandos of Lorient, of Saint Landrier, the equipment of the Armée de l'air. And it does just enjoy to be humble.

SPEAKER_02:

I imagine when you're a profits exceptional, for exchanging with those of them, there's a sort of emulation, I think.

SPEAKER_00:

We connect our notes, we connect our identity, we connect our parkours, we have to. We travail with the people like they are. The pilote is not on the carburetor. And that's a big difference also. And you said, there's an emulation in the fact that we have the performance of the commanders. If there is a thing, there are these measures that are going to watch, I'm not enjoying a boulet. So I'm going to have any sport, I'm competent.

SPEAKER_02:

Why do you describe the sentiment of questions, but in all my questions, there's a lot of presuppose plenty of things, because evidently I've got this universe, I know I think the great public. It's impossible to compare when we're not there. But there are other things that I presuppose. I suppose enough pilot, for three recipe, we're going to talk about, but I've got a chapter to the eyes in the early life of Force Special and United Elite. I suppose there's also a sentiment of responsibility in terms of pilot, because when you tell you ramaster matto, it's a livery ailleur. When you appear, generally there's a grabuge, or it will sort of a situation delicate. And how does it le geraze? Because the commandos are a group, but in extérieure, you're tendency to say, well, evidently that chicken is hyper important, but if you're not who has a souci, who is at 12 or 10 of his form le journey, potentially it could en part.

SPEAKER_00:

Alright, but unhélico d'attaque, on est deux. Donc that's complicity à deux. It's very rare that for an hélicopter de manœuvre, the type are two pilots, a mécanicien navigant, one or two gunner, donc là on est cinq déjà. And then an hélico, too, he finds a thing. And you have the lien affective, c'est-à-dire que quand tu es in operation, you manage with a commandos, and you sympathize. After we have a lot of time more. An operation is a semaine of preparation for an hour of mission. And that also feels a bit the difference. And when the side of her sends a distress, you have enough to catch the ball for each, because the ball to recuperate an equipage that crashes, so there's an especially fraternity of arms that are a bit in all the directions and with all the world. After the helicopters of manœuvres that will either be axed on the transport of commandos, but with the equipment for their commandos at their destination and they recuperate in the conditions the plus incredible. And to see in what conditions they posted in limited puissance for recuperate. And it was just admiration. And in intermediate we develop an helicopter a bit intermediate that is really polyvalent, which can make an equipped of those commandos, snipers, plus of transmission, to be a little bit polyvalent.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay.

SPEAKER_00:

The gazelle are at the origin plenty of helicopters of attack, because it was the system of arms by the army france for an helium lage, rapid for the epoch.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay. Okay. Don't gazelle tigre, and you have the Puma also, is that or you try?

SPEAKER_00:

Puma, helicopter of manœuvre, all the family of Puma, Puma, Super Puma, Cougar, Caracal. It's all the same line with the evolution. PAL, motor, system dharms, autoprotection, radio.

SPEAKER_02:

Although the helicopters of manœuvre are plenty, I would say. He wanted plenty of anecdotes about extremely complicated that he had been, etc. And it was as fascinating because he said of aerologist, for example, who was very particular in montagnes by the plaine. You don't know that it's that also pure and dure?

SPEAKER_00:

Alright, it's the reason for the formation of base, for two jeune pilote d'hélicopters, you have a phase montagne to appréhender les particularités du vol en montagne. D'ailleurs la plupart des hélicoptères, enfin des pilotes d'hélicoptère de manœuvre, issus of forces special or not, d'ailleurs, remplissent the cockpits of security civil and salut by France. D'ailleurs they arrive to retrieve a little bit, I think, for certain community with the secourists who are recuperated because it's a little continuity of the type who poses in Afghanistan at 1200 people to recuperate quite a commandos. It's this mechanism who recuperates the secourists on the flanks of Mont Blanc.

SPEAKER_02:

It does have a type of environment after the institution for revival the same thing. It's so the direction of Teddy Palati, which I've already said on the podcast precedent, fewer times. And in the first chapter, the first time, and that is a quick paragraph, because we have a transition for the suit. And that transition on lecture of my munitions and the earliest reserves of kérosène, we pose enough to a base intermediate, but with a tigre very endometrial. I respect my cockpit, I turn my visage into my eyes, I'm in tuber, I put a great respiration and in a sursaw, I reveal. It's already a cauchemar, I revealed this mission in my rêve. What that evoque? It's too late, bien sûr, but what souvenirs is that it réveils?

SPEAKER_00:

Alors le cerveau humain is very fine. It permitted to protéger un petit peu. Donc voilà, this is that operation that you party in Afghanistan. We were at the troops frances to engage. Wow. It was intense and not for not a sign. But I thought, in revenge, of that message in alert. I think when it was posted, I said elements. For this operation, I understand that at a moment. My cousin was the commandant border, so it's who I see in my petrovisor when I pass in mode ralenti because I think we are submerged by a lot of information, so we have a little, we have that sense of a little bit ralenti. And I'm saying, I think what he said, I went bought, but it is a ralenti. And at a moment he will say okay, put the canon. He said, Okay, cover, put a tires on the right. And I align my align my casque on the zone of department, and I want to find the eye, but it's a lot that we have jumped in operation, because in principle the commandant border there has the equipment and the optics for optimization the team. And it's very tired, pastious. I understand we rest focused on the things that we've not been doing. The things that we have been playing, generally we say this has passed well, so it's normal. The GitHub, the commando, announced that we are pretty. Ep number one, keep the carburetor, number two, keep the motor, get it, get that, etc. So it's very procedural. Some of you are in Afghanistan, you have 100 people, plenty of heroes, plenty of moon, they're so loose, and if you keep the motor, what the procedure is with a whole motor, you have just published to continue to know that the end of the volume, you've not even enjoyed to pose. I understand I had a vision of this film that was a little bit bercing my enfance, but I've seen Platoon, where you see one of the heroes of the film at the film who has Vietnamese and you go on ralenti, transperate with pleasure, etc. And I said, I'm not even enjoying to go to the Taliban, etc., which are very content. Although I was not listening to, as we said. We have the possibility to carry the panels, but the problem is that if you large your panier, you have a person who will recuperate the panier, the munitions, and their rockets to the colleagues Franci, American, Angela. About these systems improvised. So we have their rockets to the points of the approach, because we had a little motor. The two turned. A motor will turn 20 minutes sort of oil. And when I did, now with the record, I think at what point it's stupid. In fact, at the case we say a motor, when there's no wheel, the motor will chauffeur, it is, it turns. And it's the transmission principle that permitted to turn the pal, which is designed by the constructors for in gross feet, etc. To turn, continue to turn those helips for 10 minutes. But it's comforted. It's a little error of connaissance, but it was comfortable and I was as confident during the 14 minutes of volume that I've effectuated with a motor en feu.

SPEAKER_02:

That's a interpelled at the lecture of you ancient pilots together in this book. It's a great machine, there are enough armor, it does an impression a bit of a sentiment of invulnerability. And in the final, we wanna hope that it suffered a ball in a K-47, chorus, for render completely inutile that has a puissance of feeling monstrous. Or is that just that for it blind, it was loose and it's vocation to have an attack?

SPEAKER_00:

It's a question constructor. This is multiplied by two, the circuits carburant are multiplied by two.

SPEAKER_02:

Wow. And so we described very well in your respective, this gestion of information on the urgency. I don't know what they're the term, but they have a controller aérien, which are at the base. So there's a quantity of information to generate what I'm saying that is phenomenal, and on the time a prise of decision that does in the second, not even when you're a pilot of helicopter attack. Come on, is that you can entrain to arrive to maîtrise the more? Is that the tips, the schemas, processes mental that you failed for rest, a machine 100% opérationnel, in machine humaine, but 100% opérationnel, même quand ça pète de partout and sollicitated.

SPEAKER_00:

Alors d'une part, you have l'entraînement to have the difference. And notamment with the hélicopters of the game, we have a simulate that permetting very loin in l'entraînement. The deuxième point is the choice of the bad person at the bottom. And we have two helicopters tigres, we are three pilots, we are two pilots, we are two commanders of border, we are two chef of patrouille, but in function of your experience global, in function of your experience at court term, we decide we decide to make the ego at the end.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay, super interesting.

SPEAKER_00:

Alors en tigre in particular, we have developed a procedure that are communication to the équipage d'hélicopters d'attaque, que it's not force special or pas, qui permet to minimiser or in optimiser the communication in the equipage, parce que par moment on news, on ne peut pas se toucher, on ne peut pas se montrer va à gauche parce que I'm en train de parler en même temps.

SPEAKER_02:

Est-ce qu'il y a une decision que tu as dû prendre en vol that marqué de part l'ampleur de la decision or the consequences possibles or the manuel that it's been? Est-ce que tu as souvenir d'un act that pure au commandant of ton tigre that was very married for toi?

SPEAKER_00:

On a un système hydraulique défaillant, donc that's quite a great problem for an helicopter of six tons. Parce que if there's hydraulic, you never could boost the command of the vol. And just a moment where it was imperatively the zone to pose, it was court and the big possible. Bizarre, he had a orange, which was especially genius for a combatant. And Identified because at the time, when I went the pick-up in the desert, it was who conduit. And by definition, the type who conduits the pickup, generally is the boss. And I perceived just after. And I think that it was a menace for the helico that is enough to arrive. The type is really a good problem. And it series a menace. And I'm the haine and I think it's not for the bad reasons because I'm in color. It has been durable to have. And we have a ticket automatisation in the movement that this night I was a bit fatigued, I was not telling concentration. And we entraîned enormously on the simulator. And you had a peton for aligner the visée, you had a peton for stabilizer la visée. After you enlevé the sécurité and you ouvred the feu. And it was a sequence that was developed automatisated. I observed to know if it would be potentially a menace. The voice continues to evolution along the route and the base. I think that the first time that I repeated, it's the when I went to a remote with a psychiatrist, I was in a sale of attendance, and then I went to a team that I said, and I imagine that this was a psychiatrist. Because you don't hear, you had enough to read. It was a thing of very personal. And he had ridden because when he was hearing avoided, and he said a word that I was saying. He said, to see, you're single. Because it's really it's really like that you could resent in two cases. And I thought also partage that was passed, but the fact that I was a psychiatrist, I think my wife. I said, No, I'm not full. And I said I was why I said I wondered like a moment you said that you're all a psychologist. And in the esprint common, when you have a psychologue, alright.

SPEAKER_02:

Alright, it's an ancient Navy Steel who was envoyed on the open like Ben Laden. And it was maître-quien at the moment of that operation. Lui parle hyper overtly. He said in his lives that he has had a PTSD. And he has an éclats in the jambes, the basis and the fest. He had two chiens on the operation of Benaden. And a cancer in the fool. And you listen these two historians, I tried it interesting that the sujet was over the Students, because it means that boîte navigated, it's a little equivalent of the commandos marine, of the efforts special, who have capacities physics, mental, etc. But they're not at the abri of this thing. And in fact, it's exactly like to the frequence at the time they're so miserable to an environment of hyper stress and the time of repos, the task of decompression that exists, that means that it is. The impression that it does, the life is really, it's a concentration on your emotions. And in fact, when you see the other person, it has to run of the intensity of the view that you made in this university for special united. And the impact that it has. It's hyper exigeant and it's not fine for to tires all the six months and watch the mortality fewer times per month. And it's an object that I have the impression in France that we do not. When we learn the report, the adventure, the camaraderie, we're done, there are missions difficult, but we told me of the impact at the long time of constantly submitted to this type of environment. And you have 10-18 years. And my question, so that's my point. My question is if you say that already, because I imagine that the Army has a little bit of record, we don't know the pities in the year 50, but now it's kind of adverse that there's an impact psychological. Is that the army utilizes your experience, cells, to change the child, change the failure that the pilots are prepared, in l'occurrence, or changing the suivi or the fréquence des missions? Is that pretty en compte?

SPEAKER_00:

Alors par rapport aux Americans, I have great competences in the domain. They use also the chiens to soigne the PTSD. They have a service in California. But I do think that in France we have a summit in terms of PTSD. I think we have a service of santé des army that is exceptional now. And eight years it was a time. It's a little delicate. And he regarded a soure of niveau zero. And he just repeated on traduisant simply, he made me force special, but I don't make a dedicace, a trouble that I'm not, etc. And finally the sympathy, after the operation, it's who's going to go. And I put my paper and still, and I was on the table and I said, I'm a force special, so I'm not my name on a paper. And he started, and then for the moment, hey, he was a little clean d'oeil, and we are there. And for bond on the spirit of the equipe, finally, two times after this operation, we had a colony. And at the time, they have envoyed three ones that we are two equipment, three pilots, three medals. And finally, we have remarked and we were said we the group is 10. And you have the big number of medals for the world. Because we have two types. And in among for now, we can learn.

SPEAKER_02:

Super anecdote. In introduction, you work the 11th September 2001 and the coup de feel that you've read where we did that we're on mission for a year indeterminate. I don't know if it's compatible with a view of force special, but in your mind, how do you know that? And I think not an example that you did in your life. Let's learn, I'll say. But you visit a moment in family and you rejoice a couple of feelings and two, you are.

SPEAKER_00:

Alright, it's very that it's a bit particularly parce que we have the sense of devoir that we obliged to respond to present in two years and in two times. And it's very that I've been a long time in Afghanistan. And when I rejoice a couple of téléphone for libération d'otage, I've got a friend d'armes who said that you can, it's very important. And I'm enjoying to say no. I say that mentally it would say no. But I have this one to learn. And after the family, we did au revoir because it was the earlier time. And that's what I said to me all the time with my friends. Mm-hmm. I had enough to say au revoir because it was the earlier day. No, alright, there's a travers at that. Don't pass a little bit to their caprices, be very present. And for me, that they are a little bit pouring, they are habitual to have a papa at 200%.

SPEAKER_02:

When you are in mission, I imagine that there are moments there are moments also where it has great things, and there are moments of very big intensity when you decided because you are playing in urgence. What you want? Is we can really say rush adrenaline like you call or not for.

SPEAKER_00:

No, it doesn't jump, we habit jump very much to the adrenaline. In situations of urgency extreme, we have the truth to appeasing a little bit of tensions by the way of the water, even if we are in panic total. After we do also a style of the environment, the other pilots, the other equipment, to not want their fairies. And we catch for pleasure, we decide to be discret. And I was at a start where it was a sensation that I was.

SPEAKER_02:

It's possible to return the niveau of intensity, adrenaline enough of operations special because I'm in the I think probably.

SPEAKER_00:

I would like to make a tigre. So he went and explained a little bit the work. He said that I was here, and finally it was the way, for me in the case, the medicine military, to entail a little bit of a connection with me to a moment to go in my bureau and say that it had arrested. The transition is a bit complicated because the earlier operation that I volunteer in tantre, I was in Africa for recuperated who had assassinated the two journalists of France Info. And at the time, you passed from that to real. And finally I was told after the medicine, but I revolver. I think it was momentary. And the moment I decided to recuperate, there's a type of not de la Lufthansa, but the German wing that is suicidal with 155 passages in the Alps. And three years after I went to the centre medical on my big sourire to recuperate my heart on it. He was said no, we'll attend a little bit and we'll see a little bit how it works. But bonus, I recuper my aptitude medical, for a month, and also for two months. We have the thing also to say if you can pilot an heli, I'm gonna get a saxophone. And that's all. And the battery. Well, I'm not a battery. I've done three tambour after two years just after my evaluation at the center of selection of Vincennes to be pilot, but I'm not a battery. But we have a little bit the escadri, in an unity military, which is when we are in a great unity of force special, we are equipment, we were eight pilots in total. And really, plonge in the great bouillon, put a great virage, it's complicated. And I think that with your record, to respond to your question coming to guess, it's impossible, we don't get jumped. When you tap the reserve, the name. So he appeared that in terms of psychiatric the consolidation. So at a moment the psychiatrist will get expertise for expertise just to three years after the moment where you declares that you say we're right. That's what I've done, so at priority there's a problem. So that's the declaration and the moment where you can have a bigger niveau, that's what we say the consolidation. And I think and a bit like a somnambule, I began to be. And then I fifth, I said, I'm here, it's a van. And so I decided to cache. But in the time you can. When you don't, you can cache. I'm gonna do a consequence, dès que you say, you don't know their hesitation to make appear to a psychologist, just for a person who is enough of the sphere and who need a point of view very objective. And per moment it's bad to eat. After it's a time. The time aid enormously. And now I do know that I die from a baby. I'm not bad on sommeil, he's really reset my work, and then I work with a baby, but not problem. After I say that there are aspects of my personality that have a little bit changed and that I recuperate. Anyway, it's complicated to accept for the entourage, for their projects, their friends, it's complicated to compromise. They have two epole. I've really been entered, the most that I could. I'm here, so there are many people who made reproached. Putain, why you don't have to do it? Anyway, and already I will.

SPEAKER_02:

After all, we are all human. So thank you for this supervision. Is that there's a we have plenty of things, but is there a message or something that you would partake for concluding this conversation?

SPEAKER_00:

No, I don't know that there's not really a message to pass, but it's not that I say to my friends regularly, the life is cool, it's profit, it's a maximum because it done a little long time. And also it's not a regret. And the échec that I'm great, and it's the same. It's always very attirely on the paper of the forces special, etc. But I'm going to prepare that I've got an immense fiery to have been part of these equippers, to have côtoyed the people that are in the force special at all the niveau. And I would just not oblige that a commando after being a commando, he was probably parachutist or in another regiment, too. We were all of unity classic, and it is the reservoir, and we have a little bit of legitimate, I think. In the case, lessons to do the army conventional. And I am very extremely fiery and extremely honored to have part of the force special during so long. But I had a typical super also enough. You saw the plot of CRS, etc. There are people of me who have a career from pilots of helicopters, gentlemen, and who are pure already legends, and as you know on the different podcasts that you have to make, the park remarkable remarkable.

SPEAKER_02:

Excellent. It's really an universe that I connected as a bit. It was a long time that I've entered the quatrième RHFS and mal to trouble that.

SPEAKER_02:

Merci beaucoup Will.

SPEAKER_00:

Avec plaisir Loïc.

SPEAKER_02:
